교수소개

1985년에 서울대학교 자연과학대학 동물학과 (현 생명과학부)에서 이학사를 받은 후 도미하여 1990년에 미국 유타대학교 의과대학에서 생화학 및 분자생물학으로 이학박사를 취득하였다. 1990년도 부터 1993년까지 미국 스탠포드대학교 의과대학 발생생물학과에서 박사후 연구원으로 활동하면서 RNA와 단백질의 상호작용및 세포내 이동에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 귀국후 서울대학교 유전공학연구소에서 면역세포의 발생과 분화 관련 유전자와 신호전달관련 연구를 수행하였다. 1995년도에 단국대학교 분자생물학과에 부임한 후, 분자생물학과 학과장과 국제교류처 처장 등을 역임하였다.

1997년도 부터 분자세포생물학 실험실을 운영하며 암세포 형성과정에 중요하게 작동하는 RNA 신호전달 방법을 기반으로 한 신개념 항암제를 개발하고 있다. 단국대 부임이후 다수의 국가연구과제를 수행하여, 2007년도에는 과학기술부 국가연구개발 우수성과 100선와 학술진흥재단 우수성과 51선에 선정된 바 있다. 특히 "BK21 RNA 전문인력양성사업팀"의 사업팀장을 맡았고, 교육과학기술부 선정 "국가지정연구실(NRL)"의 책임자로도 활동하였다. 2007년도와 2014년도에 단국대 범은학술상을 수상하였고, 2014년도에는 한국 로레알-UNESCO 여성생명과학상 학술진흥상을 수상한 바 있다. 국제적 우수연구자 집단인 F1000의 chemical biology 의 국내 유일한 faculty member 이기도 하다.

한국 RNA 학회 회장과 한국분자세포생물학회 뉴스지편집위원장 및 출판위원장, 여성생명과학기술포럼 총무위원장, 한국여성과학기술단체 총연합회 총무이사를 역임하였고, 현재는 분자세포생물학회 학술상위원회 위원장, 학회 공식 SCI 학회지 부편집장, 대통령 직속 국가생명윤리심의위원회 위원으로 활동하고 있다.
