Korean Traditional Clothes (Hanbok)

Introduce

 The Department of Traditional Clothes was established to study the excellence and beauty of Korean traditional costumes and to inform them to the world, and to establish the identity of Hanbok by investigating the exchange relationship of the clothing between neighboring East Asian countries. Classes of department are designed to cultivate the ability to conduct research by organically combining literature, artifacts, and paintings that form the basis of historical research. As empirical data, more than 1,000 excavated costume relics (such as the cerements used at funerals in the Joseon Dynasty) and more than 10,000 general costume relics are used in the department from Seokjuseon Memorial Museum. Through this research, we are producing experts who contribute to the succession of traditional culture and the modern application by studying the lives and wisdom of predecessors, and ideas and exchanges, surrounding the costume lives.

 

Objective / Goal

 The educational goal of this department is to train experts who can conduct indepth research by learning the theory and method of Korean traditional costume life research, and at the same time, what they learn will be applied to modern life to contribute to the development of Korean culture and world traditional culture.

To deepen the basic studies, the department offers courses on literature, relics, and painting. Courses on historical records research, historical records reading, Korean costume history, Oriental costume history, and Chinese costume history, etc. are provided to improve the research ability of the costume history theories through the literature. To improve research ability through relics, our courses on costume rehabilitation, costume relics preservation, clothing composition, history of fabrics, and history of patterns are offered. Courses on Korean art history, painting history, craft history, and color history are provided to enable students to conduct research utilizing paintings and crafts. In addition, this department aims to cultivate human resources applied to modern life, offering courses related to the digital content production of traditional culture. Through education of major courses, students can grow into professional researchers such as professors and researchers in traditional costumes and folklore, as well as curators in museums. In addition, you can work as an expert in various video and cultural contents industries, and you can work as a professional well prepared with both theory and practice at various companies in traditional costumes. 


 




Science Education


Introduce

 The Graduate School focuses on developing posture and ability to explore science and science pedagogy with logical thinking and scientific attitudes through education and research. We strive to cultivate science education experts who can contribute to the development of science education in Korea by cultivating research expertise on the theory and practice of modern science education. We aim to cultivate human resources that are aligned with the modern society, which is developing as an information industry society and a knowledge-based society.

 

Objective / Goal

 Graduates can enter not only teachers, but also various fields such as education-related government agencies, science-related national research institutes and large corporations. In addition, the goal is to cultivate a multidisciplinary human resource through the combination of natural science and humanities, and it is expected that the future will be expanded to a future-oriented department prepared for the 4th Industrial Revolution.





Mathematics Education

Introduce

 This department, which was established for the first time in Korea through this private university, certifies a master's or doctoral degree of science or education depending on the nature of the thesis. This department acquires various mathematics pedagogical knowledge necessary for the field of education, and focuses on the subject related to mathematics for school. In fact, many elementary, middle, and high school teachers were students of the department. In addition, professors in the department play a pivotal role in Korea's most prestigious academic conferences on mathematics education, and through thorough guidance, students can present many high-quality papers every year.

 

Objective / Goal

 The curriculum-based program explores the theory and methodology of mathematics education and has a variety of knowledge and teaching behavior strategies to improve the process of mathematics education research and to improve mathematics education in a desirable direction. It also aims to encourage judgmental thinking on mathematics education and promote mathematics pedagogical research.






Medical Consilience


Introduce

 The curriculum of Department of Integrative Life Sciences is composed of a unique conglomeration of the basic science and clinical medicine subjects. Students are able to understand the current topics in the fields of biology and medicine through multidisciplinary training in basic science and eastern/western medicine such as molecular & cell biology, genetics, immunology, human physiology, medical sciences, clinical statistics and traditional medicine. Faculty members of the Department are actively involved in research and education with the specialties in the biomedical field and they are available for mentorship and training of the students pursuing multidisciplinary studies. The Department has a strong interaction with the clinical hospitals of traditional medicine and provides students with the opportunities to integrate their knowledge accumulated from the basic science training with the most current issues in clinical medicine, especially in the fields of oncology and neural and cardiovascular diseases. The Department offers the curricula for Masters and Ph.D. Degrees in Consilience in Basic Science, Bioconvergence Engineering and Medical Consilience in Traditional Medicine.
